Our wool line is inspired in Aran style is handmade by skilled knitters.
The Aran Sweater takes its name from the set of islands where it originated many generations ago, off the West coast of Ireland. The Aran Islands lie at the mouth of Galway Bay, at the mercy of the relentless Atlantic Sea. The Islanders were fishermen and farmers whose lives and livelihoods were deeply intertwined. The Aran Sweater was born of this environment, passed down from generation to generation, and has since become the ultimate symbol of Irish Clan heritage. Hand knit Aran Sweaters have become rare and valuable.
Despite the huge increase in fashion goods available the Aran Sweater remains an item of timeless beauty, synonymous with pride in an Irish heritage.
Our sheep wool its water repellent, not allowing the rain to penetrate the sweater thus keeping the wearer dry. An wool sweater can absorb 30% of its weight in water before feeling wet. The natural wool fiber used in the sweaters is breathable, drawing water vapor away from the skin and releasing it into the air, thus helping the body to maintain an ideal temperature. Most importantly, of course, an sheep wool sweater kept the wearer warm on the cold days and nights. Wool has an excellent insulating capacity due to the high volume of air in it, and this helps protect the wearer from excessive cold and heat.
We assure you that all our garments are authentic, hand knit sweaters, created in the historic tradition by expert craftspeople.
Each purchase supports the education of a child in Ecuador. The sweaters are made from a pure wool or wool/cotton blend which makes them very warm and also machine washable in cold water!
OUR WOOL A sturdy yet soft yarn with excellent stitch definition and heirloom durability. Ecuadorian sheep are a cross between Corriedale (for the sturdiness) and Merino (for the softness), producing a strong fiber with an excellent softness quotient for a wide variety of uses.

Wool Care Recommendations.
Since wool is naturally anti-bacterial, it does not need to be washed each time it is worn.
There are many ways to wash wool. Some people use baby shampoo, bar soap, or specialty commercial wool washes. Needs to be a mild soap.
To wash add 1 tsp per gallon of clean, tepid water. Let garment soak for ten minutes. Gently squeeze suds through the fabric taking care not to felt the wool. Rinse thoroughly in tepid water. Roll garment in a towel to remove excess water. Reshape and dry flat out of direct sun or heat.
Remember, lanolin has natural cleansing properties, which make it very easy to rinse soil deposits off of your wool with lukewarm water or cold.
